ALMA M. PUHRMANN
Alma Maria Puhrmann, the daughter of Wilhelm and Mary (Kruse) Riebesell, was born January 18, 1917 on her parent’s farm near Granville, Iowa, and passed away on Monday, June 11, 2012 at the Primghar Care Center in Primghar, Iowa reaching the age of 95 years, 4 months and 23 days. She received her education in the public school at Calumet, Iowa. On January 22, 1939, she was united in marriage to Raymond Puhrmann at her parent’s farm home near Calumet, Iowa. After their marriage the couple started farming northwest of Paullina. In 1969, they retired from farming and moved to Paullina. In 1972, they became janitors at the Presbyterian Church in Paullina and later became janitors of Zion Lutheran Church and school.
Alma was confirmed at Zion United Church of Christ in Calumet on April 13, 1930. She was a longtime member of Zion Lutheran Church in Paullina and the Ladies Aid group. Alma enjoyed quilting with the ladies of the church, gardening, cooking and baking, playing cards and family gatherings.
Alma leaves to cherish her memory her children: Marlys Fear and her husband, Gaylon of Olds, Iowa; Larry Puhrmann and his wife, Cindy of Paullina; Norma Johnson and her husband, Dick of LeMars, Iowa; Lorene Unrau and her husband, Denny of Spirit Lake, Iowa; ten grandchildren: Alan Fear and his wife, Missy; Kent Fear; Gloria Fear and Randy White; Lenny Puhrmann; Jeanna Click and her husband, Darin; Krista Snyder; Julie Grantham and her husband, Bob; Amy Rolfes and her husband, Jason; Gary Unrau and his wife, Allison and Brent Unrau and his wife, Amber; twenty great-grandchildren: Ray, Ben, Kaci, Brittany, Rachelle, Logan, Brady, Bryce, Hunter, Brody, Emma, Brianna, Jordan, Faith, Courtney, Madison, Danielle, Taylor, Tavian and Teagan; and two great-great grandchildren, Kaylee and Savannah; sister-in-law, Marjorie Riebesell; as well as other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond on April 10, 2009; her parents, two brothers, Walter and Harry Riebesell and a grandchild, Travis Snyder.
