ANNE VAN KALSBEEK

Anne Van Kalsbeek, the daughter of Herman and Johanna (Meinders) Bruxvoort, was born October 31, 1909, in Crookston, MN. As a child, she moved with her family to Orange City, IA where she received her education in country schools. On February 7, 1934, she was united in marriage to Clarence Van Kalsbeek at her parent’s home near Orange City, IA. They settled on the family farm northwest of Hospers, IA. She and her husband farmed until they retired and moved into Hospers, IA in 1969. Clarence passed away on December 12, 1992, in Orange City, IA. She remained in the family home until 1994, when she moved to the Pioneer Home in Orange City, IA and later to the Heritage House Nursing Home in Orange City, IA. She passed away on Sunday, January 18, 2009, at the age of 99 years, 2 months and 18 days.
She was a member of the Hospers Christian Reformed Church and Ladies Aid. She had a keen sense of humor; was an avid reader; enjoyed crocheting, knitting and her flowers. She especially enjoyed having her family for coffee.
Anne leaves to cherish her memories six daughters and husbands, Joann and Clarence Huygens of Hospers, IA; Ruth and Marley Grotenhuis of Sibley, IA; Harriet and Gerald Van Meeteren of Sheldon, IA; Carol and Ron Oostra of Sioux Center, IA; Anita and Gary Jeltema of Orange City, IA; Laura Van Kalsbeek of Rock Valley, IA; 19 grandchildren; 45 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Hermina Bloemendaal of Orange City, IA; two sisters-in-law, Martha Bruxvoort of Luverne, MN and Verda Bruxvoort of Visalia, CA; also many other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, two grandchildren, Marlin Grotenhuis and Heidi Altena; her parents; three sisters, Bessie LaFleur, Effie Bremer, Jeanette Bruxvoort; eight brothers, Tim, Henry, Gerrit, Brandt, Clarence, John, Gilbert and another Gilbert in infancy.
