ANTHONY T. WALLRICH
Anthony “Tony” Theodore Wallrich was born on August 4, 1939 on the family farm near Ashton, Iowa. He was the son of Gregor and Kathryn (Poss) Wallrich. Tony grew up on the family farm east of Ashton. He graduated in 1957, from St. Joseph’s Catholic High School in Ashton. After graduation, he worked on the family farm. On January 15, 1959, Anthony was united in marriage to Kathleen Fisher in St. Mary’s Rectory in Ashton, Iowa. Together they made their home in Ashton. After his parents retired from farming in 1967, Tony took over running the family farm and settled his family there. His wife, Kathleen preceded him in death on November 1, 1999. Tony remained on the family farm until November 2005, when he moved to the Northwest Iowa Health Center – Senior Care in Sheldon due to Alzheimer’s. He passed away on Wednesday, July 12, 2006 at the Senior Care Center in Sheldon, reaching the age of 66 years, 11 months and 8 days.
He was member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church of Ashton. Beside his passion of farming, he was devoted to his wife of 40 years and his eight children. He especially enjoyed his time watching his favorite teams, the Dallas Cowboys and the New York Yankees. He also had an ongoing feud with his brother, Mike; a Minnesota Twins fan, as to who had the better team. He also enjoyed fishing with his family and friends.

Final Harvest

He was bound to the land from the day of his birth
His roots anchored deep in the fertile earth
Nurtured, sustained, by the soil he grew
And his life, like his furrows, ran straight and true.

In faith, each spring, he planted the seeds
In hope, to reap his family’s needs
With patience, he waited for the harvest to come
To gather the fruits of his labor home.

Ever turning seasons, the years sped past
Till the final harvest came at last
Then claimed anew by beloved sod
He was gathered home to be with God.
