ARDELLE M. RICHTER


Ardelle Mae Richter, the daughter of Edward and Elsie (Holck) Westphael was born on July 18, 1928 in Paullina, Iowa. She was baptized on December 2, 1928 at Zion Lutheran Church in Paullina and confirmed as an adult on March 27, 1948 at St. John Lutheran Church in Germantown. She attended country school in Calumet and later graduated from Calumet High School. Ardelle was united in marriage to Leonard Richter on November 30, 1947 at St. John Lutheran Church in Germantown. After their marriage the couple farmed around Germantown until Leonard retired in 1998. He preceded Ardelle in death on October 6, 2012 in Orange City, Iowa. After Leonard passed, Ardelle remained at home until she passed away on Tuesday, October 28, 2014 at Unity Point Health, St. Lukes, reaching the age of 86 years, 3 months and 10 days.
Ardelle was a member of the St. John Lutheran Church.
Ardelle is survived by her four children and their spouses, Nancy and Darrell Clendinnen of Castle Rock, Colorado, Kathy and Ross Miller of Gaza, Iowa, Jane and Curt Zimmerman of Castle Rock, Colorado and Daniel and Sandra Richter of Paullina, Iowa; ten grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; her mother, Elsie Hardin of Cherokee, Iowa; two brothers, Larry Westphael of Banning, California and Lonnie Westphael of Larkspur, Colorado; also nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.
Ardelle is preceded in death by her father; son, Todd; granddaughter, Melissa; great grandson, Emery; two brothers, Charles and Bobby Westphael.
