ARDITH J. LAMMERS
Ardith Joan Lammers, the daughter of Antoine “Tony” and Leona (Petersen) Ihry, was born April 4, 1931 on a farm near Royal, Iowa. She held the birth record for Clay County for many years weighing in at 15 lbs. and 2oz. The Dr. then took both mother and baby to the Spencer Hospital to check both of them out, as was unusual for such a large baby born at home being so large and wanted to verify the birth weight again. After her birth, the family moved to Everly when Ardith was 6 months old. She was raised there all of her childhood and graduated from Everly High School in 1949. She became a Telephone Operator during the latter part of her senior year and continued after being married till the birth of their first child. Ardith was united in marriage to Walter Lammers on July 2, 1950 in Everly, Iowa. She was a stay-at-home mom until their 3 sons; Tony Wm., Tracy Lee and Tim E. were in school. She then worked as a receptionist for the Honey Bee Company. The hours usually worked out so she could be home by the time the boys’ got home from school. She stayed employed there until they moved to Boyden, Iowa. Ardith passed away at the Sanford Sheldon Medical Center of Sheldon, Iowa on Saturday, October 26, 2013 reaching the age of 82 years, 6 months and 22 days.
She was a member of United Presbyterian Church in Boyden. “Art” known to her friends enjoyed volunteering wherever possible. She took “Meals on Wheels” while that lasted as “Welcome Wagon”. What a wonderful project; it had all kinds of information of our great little city of Boyden had to offer. She had the great pleasure of volunteering for years in one form or another for the Sioux Blood Bank from Sioux City. Enjoyed working the Blood Drives and having what we called “our little town meeting” after the donors came back to have lunch after “giving the blood of life.” One got great satisfaction helping others in so many fields. She also belonged to the Legion Auxiliary and tried to be as helpful in their projects as health would allow. She loved quilting for many years, but in time was unable to continue do to arthritis in her hands and missed it very much. We had a great fellowship at those “Quilting Bees.” Great memories! Enjoyed crafts of all kinds; spending many hours doing counted cross-stitch as gifts and just for pleasure. Last but not least being part of the UPWO at church and the good works we do in the organization besides our Bible Studies. Also, those coffee parties we three had. How I enjoyed them.
During the years of raising our family we made a camper out of an old school bus and did some weekend camping with our family while they were growing up. It was a great was to have family time together. We took some interesting trips in that old bus, with many wonderful memories. To this day, all the sons enjoy camping and it has followed down to the younger generations.
My biggest challenge and enjoyment in life was raising our 3 fine sons, Tony, Tracy and Tim with the aid of their father, Walt and we can’t forget their G’mpa Tony that was with us for fourteen years to help guide us in the right direction after my mother passed away. We tried very hard to do what was right with the boys while they were growing up. To help teach them to learn how to cope and accept that there will be many disappointments in their lifetime, yet through it all, one can be a stronger person for it. Also be thankful for the goodtimes! We are very proud of each of our sons and what they have accomplished in their lives which include their mates and families.
Ardith leaves to cherish her memory her husband, Walt of 63 years and their 3 sons and spouses, Tony and Denise of Custer, SD; Tracy and Kayleen of Sioux Falls, SD and Tim and Vicki of Boyden, IA; 7 grandchildren, Tori and Cory Lewis, Jessica Krebs; Cody and Jamie Lammers Tara and Ross Miller; Justin, Mariah and Philip Lammers; 8 great-grandchildren, Ashlynn, Megan, Landon, Michael, Delany, Kyler, Alaina and Klaridy; and a sister, Joyce Wagner of Spencer, IA; and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Ray Ihry and two other brothers in infancy and a sister, Ruth.
Thank you Lord, for being there for us and guiding us all the way. A good Job Well done, especially in the eyes of a mother.

GOD BLESS ALL OF YOU TILL WE MEET AGAIN. AMEN
