ARNOLD “ARNIE” KOELE

Arnold “Arnie” Koele, the son of Arie and Henrietta (Heemskerk) Koele was born June 21, 1947 in Hull, Iowa. He received his education in Hull and graduated from the Boyden/Hull High School in 1965; he also graduated from Nettleton College in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Arnie was united in marriage to Judy Overman on November 29, 1966 in Carmel, Iowa, the couple made their home in Sheldon. Arnie worked for his brother, Leon and Bob Wolf in an accounting office in Sheldon. And for the past 23 years Arnie has been the CFO for the Village Northwest Unlimited in Sheldon. Arnie passed away Tuesday, May 17, 2011 at the Sanford Health Center in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, reaching the age of 63 years, 10 months and 26 days.
Arnie had an amazing faith and commitment to Jesus Christ – he was a true testament to anyone who knew him. Arnie was a member of Bethel Reformed Church in Sheldon and over the years, Arnie had served as an Elder, Deacon, Sunday School Teacher and the Vice President of the Consistory. He was also a 35 year member of the Sheldon Kiwanis; he had served in the Air National Guard out of Sioux Falls, South Dakota. His beautiful bride and family meant the world to him, especially those grandkids. Fishing was more than a sport for Arnie, it was his favorite past time with his fishing buddies!
Arnie is survived by his wife, Judy of Sheldon; their 2 daughters, Linda and her husband, Jim Else of Oskaloosa Iowa and Cindy Baldwin and her friend Chris Coen of Indianola, Iowa; 3 grandchildren, Aubree and Alloree Else and Turner Baldwin; a brother and his wife, Leon and Evelyn Koele of Sheldon; a sister and her husband, Marilyn and Merrill Vander Schaaf of Pattonville, Texas; a sister-in-law, Becky Koele of Aurora, Colorado; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and a younger brother, Calvin Koele.
