ARNOLD J. VAN ES

Arnold J. Van Es, the son of John and Jenny (Oldenkamp) Van Es was born on November 10, 1927 near rural Newkirk, Iowa. He received his education in a country school near Newkirk. On November 23, 1948 he was united in marriage to Angeline Starkenburg. Arnold had numerous jobs, but is remembered most for his many years of service at the Boyden Coop. In 1993 Arnold retired from the Coop. He moved to the Sanford Senior Care Nursing Home in January of 2005. He passed away on Tuesday, September 13, 2011 at the Sanford Senior Care Nursing Home reaching the age of 83 years, 10 months and 3 days.
Arnold was an active member of the First Reformed Church in Boyden where he served as a deacon. He especially enjoyed musical programs in church. His family and friends will remember him most for his card playing.
Arnold is survived by his wife Angeline of 63 years; son, Duane and his wife Mary Van Es of Boyden, Iowa; daughter Brenda and her husband Laryl De Wild of Boyden, Iowa; daughter-in-law Phyllis Van Es of Grinnell, Iowa; four grandchildren and their spouses, Jill and Peter DeGroot of Olathe, Kansas, Doug and Kari Van Es of Sanborn, Iowa, Andy and Anna De Wild of Sheldon, Iowa, and Dusty and Amanda DeWild of Boyden, Iowa; five great-grandchildren, Dylan, Tyler, Lindsay, Lexi and Dalton; one brother Harvey of California; two sisters, Helen and Marv Huisman of Orange City, Iowa and Shirley and Hallard DeJong of Orange City, Iowa; one sister-in-law Joyce Van Es of Russellville, Arkansas; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Arnold is preceded in death by his oldest son James, parents John and Jenny Van Es and three brothers, Jonathan, Gerald and Wilbur.
