Benjamin DeWit, age 34, of Sheldon, Iowa who passed away on Friday, December 11, 2020 at Sanford Sheldon Medical Center in Sheldon, Iowa. His funeral service will be 10:00 A.M. on Friday, December 18, 2020 at Living Water Community Church in Sheldon, Iowa with Pastor Jesse Walhof ~ officiating
Burial will be Hope Cemetery in Hull, Iowa.
Visitation without the family present will be from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. Thursday, December 17, 2020 at Vander Ploeg Funeral Home in Sheldon, Iowa.
Social distancing guidelines will take place
and Mask will be required for the Visitation and the Funeral Service

BENJAMIN L. DEWIT
Benjamin “Ben” Lee DeWit, the son of Kenneth and Dee (Huisman) DeWit, was born April 29, 1986, in Rock Valley, Iowa. He received his education in Boyden-Hull schools, graduating with the class of 2004. He furthered his education at Northwest Iowa Community College in Sheldon, receiving his two-year degree as an electrician and in PLC Programing. On Aug. 22, 2008, he was united in marriage to Danae Vanden Top at the First Reformed Church in Hull, Iowa. The couple was blessed with their daughter, Kailey. The couple’s married life was spent in Sheldon where they made their home. Ben worked in various jobs in the electrician field and electrical maintenance. His last employment was in the Maintenance Department at the Northwest Iowa Community College in Sheldon. He passed away on Friday, Dec. 11, 2020, at the Sanford Sheldon Medical Center, reaching the age of 34 years, seven months, and 12 days.
He was a member of the Living Water Community Church in Sheldon. He was a volunteer on the Sheldon Fire Department for six years. He had a kind heart and was always willing to help. He especially loved to tow people out of the ditch in the winter, including his wife once. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and anything outdoors. He loved to tinker in the garage and did a lot of house remodeling projects.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife and daughter, Danae and Kailey DeWit of Sheldon, Iowa; his parents, Ken and Dee DeWit of Hull, Iowa; two brothers and their families, Matt (Dawn) DeWit and their children, Danica, Dylan and Dustin, all of Rock Valley, Iowa, and Darin (Janelle) DeWit and their children, Ali, Jayci, Kambri and Hudsyn, all of Hull, Iowa; his father and mother-in-law, Doug and Darla Vanden Top of Hull, Iowa; a brother-in-law and his wife, Dale (Becca) Vanden Top of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; and other relatives and many friends.
He was preceded in death by an infant brother, Kenton, and his maternal and paternal grandparents.
