BERT G. LOUSCHER
Bertie G. Louscher, the son of George and Della (Gillespie) Louscher was born December 4, 1911 in Primghar, Iowa. On December 27, 1935, he was united in marriage to Gladys Brumley at the Horton Lutheran Church in Ocheyedan, Iowa. The couple lived in Harris, Iowa for five years before moving to Paullina in 1940, where they have since resided. Upon Bert’s retirement in 1990 they wintered in Florida. Bert and Gladys were married over 67 years when she went to live with her Lord. Bert joined his Lord while residing at the Prairie View Retirement Home in Sanborn on February 13, 2010, reaching the age of 98 years.
Bert owned and operated Paullina Grain Company from 1947 to 1990. He was a life-long member of the Presbyterian Church in Paullina, where he served many years as a trustee. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and a Shriner. He served on the Paullina City Council and was a past president of the Iowa Feed and Grain Association.
He loved golfing, dancing, and traveling with Gladys. His Canadian fishing trips with friends and family were all very special to him. In his retirement Bert loved to garden, with tomatoes as his specialty.
Bert leaves to cherish his memory, three sons and their wives, Bert and Lorna Louscher of North Fort Myers, Florida; Steve and Karen Louscher of Paullina and Mike and Chris Louscher of Algona; 12 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren, one sister, Esther James of Garden Grove, California; as well as nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife and daughter, Gladys and Mary Sue; his parents, two brothers and one sister.
