BERTHA MORET

Bertha Moret, the daughter of Gerrit and Berendena (Vreeman) Bosman was born February 9, 1911 in Sioux County, Iowa. She received her education in Boyden and graduated from Boyden High School in 1928. She went on to attend Iowa Teachers College in Cedar Falls, IA and Westmar College in LeMars, IA. Bertha received her B.A. degree from Northwestern College in Orange City, IA. She went on to teach for 8 years in a rural school near Boyden and for 30 years she taught in the junior high in Boyden. On February 15, 1935, she was united in marriage to Henry L. Moret in Boyden, Iowa; their married life was spent in the Boyden area. Henry passed away on March 11, 1980 in Sheldon, Iowa. Bertha remained in Boyden and moved to the Christian Retirement Home in Sheldon in August of 1998. In August of 2006, she moved to the Northwest Iowa Health Center – Senior Care in Sheldon. She passed away on Thursday, October 26, 2006 at the Northwest Iowa Health Center - Senior Care in Sheldon, Iowa, reaching the age of 95 years, 8 months and 17 days.
She was a member of the First Reformed Church in Boyden and had taught Sunday school. She was a charter member of the Senior Saints and enjoyed singing with them. She was a former trustee of the Boyden Public Library, a life-time member of the Iowa Teachers Association an a member of the Northwest Retired Teachers. Teaching was an important part of Bertha’s life; she enjoyed teaching and in her later years enjoyed visiting with her former students. She enjoyed going to Boyden-Hull basketball games, crocheting and reading.
Bertha leaves to cherish her memory, her daughter, Marilyn and son-in-law, Myron Kleinwolterink of Sheldon, Iowa; four grandchildren, Steve and his wife, Ranae Kleinwolterink of Boyden, IA; Mark and his wife, Ruth Kleinwolterink of Sheldon, IA; Maureen and her husband, Randy Veldman of Hull, IA; Jay and his wife, Sharla Kleinwolterink of Hospers, IA; eleven great-grandchildren, two sisters-in-law, Margaret Moret of Sheldon, IA and Cora Uittenbogaard of Primghar, IA; also nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, an infant great granddaughter, Erin Marie Veldman; her parents, a brother, Henry Bosman and seven sisters, Minnie Brinks, Rena Bosman, Gert Rens, Dena Moret, Johanna Bosman, Marie Heitritter and Rena Veen.
