Betty J. Mosier, age 80, of Sheldon, Iowa, passed away suddenly on Saturday, December 22, 2018 at their home in Killeen, Texas. Memorial Services will be Thursday, January 10, 2019 at 11:00 A.M. at Calvary Baptist Church in Sheldon, Iowa. Pastor Zac Patke officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday, January 9, from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. with the family present from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. at the Andringa Funeral Home Sheldon Funeral Service in Sheldon, Iowa. Burial of cremains will be at a later date. Betty Jean Mosier was born to Delmar and Anne (Bolte) Jaques on June 15, 1938 in Lake Benton, MN. She grew up in Lake Benton and attended Lake Benton Schools. Betty married Lyle (Bud) Mosier on December 28, 1955. They were blessed with 6 children. She worked as a Teacher's Aide at Buffalo Ridge Baptist Academy and was Chair of the Minnesota Women's Baptist League. They enjoyed camping and fishing together, making many good friends while doing so. Betty also enjoyed playing softball on the Woman's Fast Pitch Softball League in Lake Benton, and each year she rarely missed watching Woman's NCAA Softball on TV. She also enjoyed sewing, needle point, knitting and crocheting, gardening, canning, and while the children were growing up, making bread weekly. They moved to Sheldon, Iowa in 1981. There, Betty was employed at Kushner Hickman and Spronk until her retirement in 1998. She also took classes at NCC, receiving her Associates Degree. Betty was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Sheldon where she served as treasurer for many years and enjoyed participating in Women's Bible Studies, work groups, and sewing for mission projects. After retirement, Lyle and Betty took to the road in their camper. They were members of SOWER'S (Servants On Wheels Ever Ready), doing mission work in various parts of the United States, and settling in South Texas in the winter. The church family at Grace Community Church in Pharr, TX was very dear to her and she enjoyed serving as Secretary there. In the summers, they returned to Iowa spending time with family and friends in the Midwest. Those who will miss her smile, her laugh, and will cherish her memory, are her husband of nearly 63 years, Lyle Mosier; her children, Cheryl (Richard) Baird, Brent (Millie) Mosier, Cory (Bruce) Nelson, Brice (Michelle) Mosier, Bruce (Deb) Mosier; 16 Grandchildren, with whom she shared her knowledge and loved dearly, Patrick, Nathan, Bradley, Debbie, Amanda, Alisha, Brandon, Jesse, Carissa, Tasha, Brittany, Keri, Shelby, Hallee, Jordan, and DJ; 21 precious Great Grandchildren, whom she enjoyed watching play on the farm or seeing updates of them on Facebook; sister, Delores Venekamp, sister, Teri (Gary) Hurd; sister-in law, Hope Mosier; many nieces, nephews, friends, and church families. Betty was preceded in death by her parents; son, Bryan Doc Mosier; brother, Bill Jaques; 5 brothers-in-law; 3 sisters-in-law; and 2 nephews.
