BRADLEY “BRAD” E. MESNER

“Remembering The Journey”

Bradley Earl Mesner, the son of Earl and Ora (Traver) Mesner was born June 1, 1939 on a farm near Calumet, in O’Brien County, Iowa. He attended country school and schools in Paullina and Sutherland before graduating from Sutherland High School in 1957. On July 14, 1957, he was united in marriage to Diane Steffen in Sutherland, Iowa. To this union three children were born Cindy, Jim and Gary. The couple farmed northeast of Sutherland until 2007 when he retired, and they moved to Paullina because of failing health. While on the farm one of Brad’s enjoyments was combining corn. Brad remained in the family home until entering the Community Memorial Health Center in Hartley, Iowa where he passed away on Thursday, December 27, 2018.
Brad was a man of wide and varied interests. After his family some of his favorite things included playing the accordion, listening to old time music and playing cards. If he could have mowed his lawn every day, he would have been very happy. He was an avid trap shooter winning many trophies. He also enjoyed going to movies and playing pool.
Brad was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Paullina.
He is survived by his wife, Diane Mesner of Paullina, Iowa; a daughter, Cindy (Bob) Callenius of Hospers, Iowa; two sons, Jim (Lisa) Mesner of Greensberg, Pennsylvania; Gary (Patti) Mesner of Arnolds Park, Iowa; six grandchildren, Brandon (Alison), Mark (Ashley), Jason, Allen, Kelsey and Courtney; seven great grandchildren, Charley, Caleb, Mason, Hunter, Jaxson, Lydia, Kenzee; also many other relatives and friends.
Brad was preceded in death by daughter-in-law, Lana Mesner, great granddaughter, Lily, parents and a half brother, Jack Schroeder.
