BURDETTE H. REHDER 
     Burdette H. Rehder, the son of Emil and Hilda (Jurgensen) Rehder, was born April 27, 1923 on the family farm in Liberty Township, O’Brien County, Iowa. He received his education and graduated from Gaza Consolidated School. On February 24, 1943, he was united in marriage to Yvonne Merritt, daughter of Clayton and Ida (Lemke) Merritt. After their marriage, the couple farmed and raised livestock south of Gaza, Iowa. Upon retiring from farming they moved to Calumet, Iowa. While in Calumet he worked for the C-S Agrow Service Co.; was employed as caretaker of the Liberty Township Cemetery; assisted in painting farm buildings and houses, and did mowing of yards. Burdette passed away on Saturday, January 1, 2005 at his winter home in Mesa, Arizona, reaching the age of 81 years, 8 months and 4 days. 
    He was baptized, confirmed and currently a member of the Zion United Church of Christ in Calumet. He had served various times on the church council. His enjoyments included bowling, dancing, fishing, playing cards, wood crafts and family gatherings. 
     Burdette leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife of 61 years, Yvonne of Calumet; three daughters, Donna and her husband, Garry Dirks of Mesa, AZ; Nancy and her husband, Bruce Bappe of Lakewood, CO and Karla Dahlinger of Thornton, CO; a son and his wife, David and Ida Rehder of Golden, CO; 7 grandchildren, Lisa and her husband, Lance Murphy; Tim Bappe; Chad Dahlinger; Brooke Dahlinger, Justin Rehder; Kelli Rehder; Michala Rehder; 3 great-grandchildren, Jacob Murphy; Trace Murphy and Taylor Dahlinger; three sisters, Margaret Perry of Primghar, IA; Shirley Ebel of Paullina, IA; Ruby and her husband, Bill Goosen of Paullina, IA; one brother, Curtis and his wife, Betty Rehder of Primghar, IA; and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. 
     He was preceded in death by one great-grandson, Tyler Murphy; his parents; one sister, Erma and her husband, Edward Gerstandt; three brothers-in-law, Dale Perry; Eldon Miller and Roy Ebel.
