CHARLES GENE MEYER
Charles Gene Meyer, the son of Fredrick and Nell (Helwig) Meyer was born April 13, 1928 in Hixton, Wisconsin. As a small child he moved with his parents to Neillsville, Wisconsin where he attended school and graduated from Neillsville High School in 1946. Charles served in the Wisconsin National Guard, 32nd Division Rifle Team for over 20+ years. He was united in marriage to Marilyn Ann Haas in Neillsville, Wisconsin on August 25, 1954. The young couple made their home in Neillsville for several years before moving to Ashton, Iowa, where he was a sales representative for Moorman Feed; he then served as the Rural Mail Carrier for the United States Postal Service in the Ashton area for 20+ years. He passed away on September 12, 2015 at Sheldon Sanford Senior Care in Sheldon, Iowa, reaching the age of 87 years, 4 months and 30 days.
Charles enjoyed hunting, and Competitive Shooting while in the National Gaurd, winning many awards.
Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Marilyn; their 2 sons, Jerry (Kris) Meyer of Sheldon, IA; David Meyer of Albion, Nebraska; son-in-law, Dean (Daleen) Seibold of Spirit Lake, Iowa; 7 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, 1 brother, Lloyd Meyer of Neillsville, Wisconsin; a sister, Judy Mess of Scottsdale, Arizona; and other relatives and friends.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter Vicky Seibold; and infant grandson, 2 brothers, Kenneth Meyer and Harold Meyer; a sister-in-law, Jean Meyer and a brother-in-law, Tom Mess.
