DARLENE A. HOERMANN
Darlene Ann Hoermann, the daughter of William and Helen (Gaudian) Ebel was born February 5, 1922 in Caledonia Township, OBrien County, Iowa. She received her education at St. John Lutheran School in Germantown. On May 16, 1943, she was united in marriage to Wilbert Hoermann at St. John Lutheran Church in Germantown by Pastor Jurgens. After their marriage the couple settled in Germantown where she was employed at Lange-Miller store for many years and also cleaned house for many people. The couple moved to a farm south of Germantown in 1952 and farmed until retiring in1971 and moved back to Germantown. For 15 years the couple were janitors of the St. John Lutheran Church. Her husband preceded her in death on August 5, 1990 in Sioux City. Darlene remained in Germantown until moving into Paullina where she lived for several years. In September of 2012, she moved to the Community Memorial Health Center in Hartley. She passed away on Sunday, March 30, 2014 at the Health Center reaching the age of 92 years, 1 month and 25 days.
She was baptized on February 19, 1922 at St. John Lutheran Church in Germantown by Rev. F.W. Potraz and later confirmed on May 3, 1936 by Rev. H. Steger and was a lifelong member of the St. John Lutheran Church in Germantown. She was also a member of the Ladies Aid and Gold and Silver Club of the church. She enjoyed quilting, fishing, reading and the special times she spent with her family.
Darlene leaves to cherish her memory two daughters, Phyllis and her husband, Roy Pearson of St. Louis, Missouri; Peg and her husband, Jeff Fox of Steamboat Springs, Colorado; a niece, Pam Culler of Paullina; nine grandchildren, Nikki (Brian) Smith, Abby Fox, Jonathan Pearson, Shannon, Ryan, Angela, Daisy, Matthew and Rachel Culler; eight great grandchildren, one brother, Burdette Ebel of Primghar; three sisters, Marge Mesner of Lake Park, Iowa; Adeline Traver of Paullina, Iowa and Marian Otto of Hartley, Iowa; a sister-in-law, Leora Ebel of Hartley, Iowa; also other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilbert; a daughter, Connie in 1962; her parents and one brother, Wilbert Ebel.
