DARLENE E. JOHNSON

Darlene Elise Johnson was born near Albert City, Iowa on August 27, 1920 to Enoch and Elise (Fredericksen) Molgaard. She grew up on a farm near Alta, Iowa. She attended Alta Community Schools, graduating in 1939. She then attended the Beauty Academy in Sioux City, Iowa. She practiced her profession at Galva, Storm Lake and Waterloo, Iowa, also Albany, Oregon. She worked at the Cherokee Memorial Hospital for seventeen years, retiring in 1982 to take care of her ailing husband until his death. Darlene was united in marriage to Lester John “Bud” Johnson on December 26, 1941 in Omaha, Nebraska. Bud passed away on October 1, 1992. Darlene moved to Primghar, Iowa in October 1993. She entered the Primghar Care Center in November of 2011 until her passing on Tuesday, July 23, 2013 reaching the age of 92 years, 10 months and 26 days.
Darlene enjoyed family gatherings, babysitting her grandchildren, embroidering tea towels and was a caregiver.
Left to cherish her memory are her three children, Mark and Deb Johnson of Sheldon, Iowa; Marchia and Levi Lundquist of Primghar, Iowa and Terrie Johnson of Primghar, Iowa; six grandchildren, Tony and Cathy Lundquist of Paullina, Iowa; Tracy and David Grothaus of Laurens, Iowa; Tanya and Mark Babb of Paullina, Iowa; Brian and Davena Tewes of Hartley, Iowa; Carrie and Tony Schiedel of Roswell, New Mexico and Christopher Johnson of Primghar, Iowa; twelve great grandchildren, Carly, Zeke and Reese Lundquist; Hannah and Hunter Grothaus; Mercedes and Alexus Moss; Katelyn, Kaley and Briely Tewes; Isabelle and Liam Schiedel; also many nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
Darlene is preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, David, Earl and Fred and two sisters, Adeline and Cleora.
