Darlene Tesch, the daughter of Clarence and Maggie (Wittrock) Eldredge, was born September 11, 1939 on a farm, rural Cleghorn, Iowa. She received her education at Cleghorn through grade school and Marcus during middle school and graduated on May 15, 1957. On May 29, 1958, she was united in marriage to Verlon “Pete” Tesch at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa and to this union three children were born. She was baptized later in life on April 10, 1960 at Faith Lutheran Church in Marcus. After their marriage she worked as a switchboard operator, Aalfs Manufacturing, Cherokee Mental Health Institute, Paullina Club House Manager, Area 4 bus driver and was a farm wife. After Pete’s health forced him to retire from farming, Darlene became Pete’s caregiver until his passing on January 16, 2007. Dar remained at home until she passed away on Thursday, November 7, 2019 at Sanford USD Medical Center, reaching the age of 80 years, 1 month and 26 days.
Darlene enjoyed being on her computer and listening to her scanner. She was an avid user of her cellphone sending daily text messages to her children and grandchildren. She also enjoyed playing cards, and golfing. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family and going to her grandchildren’s many sporting events and activities.
