DAVID A. LAGOO
David was born October 17, 1934 to the late David Lagoo and Edna Brown Lagoo of Pontiac, Michigan. David was a 1952 graduate of Boyden High School, Boyden, Iowa. Following high school, Mr. Lagoo enlisted in the Unites States Navy, serving during the Korean War. Upon Mr. Lagoos return, he settled in Sheldon, Iowa and worked at Sheldon Arnold Motor Supply. Here he refined his interest and skills in the automotive field. He soon found employment at Northwest Iowa Community College teaching auto mechanics. He earned his degree and worked at the College for thirty years, retiring as Auto Mechanics, Truck and Diesel Department Chair. After retirement, Mr. Lagoo was recruited to promote the use of Ethanol in motor fuel throughout in the State of Iowa to area businesses and colleges. David Arthur Lagoo of Sheldon, Iowa died peacefully on June 2, 2015 at The Sheldon Sanford Senior Care Center following a long illness. He was 80 Years old.
David was united in marriage to Lorna Pangborn on June 2, 1959 in Sheldon, Iowa and he was a devoted family man, his love and caring for his family was his first propriety. He was hard-working and organized. Throughout his time in Sheldon, he was involved in the Church of Christ of Sheldon, IA and Church of Christ in Worthington, Minn. Teaching Sunday school, bible study groups, and aiding wherever there was a need. He was also an advisor on the board at the Christian Childrens Home in Sutherland, Iowa. He enjoyed reading, camping, traveling throughout Colorado, planes, trains and doing automotive work. During baseball season he was often watching and rooting for two of his favorite teams The Minnesota Twins, and The Chicago Cubs.
Mr. Lagoo is survived by a daughter; Joy Lagoo of Old Greenwich, Connecticut; a sister, Norma Boone of Baltimore, Maryland; a step-sister, Eleanor McDuffy of Des Moines, Iowa; and a step-brother, Paul Pettit of Gillette, Wyoming. He was predeceased by his wife, Lorna on March 6, 2015 and a son, Mark.
