     DONALD L. HUISMAN 
  
     Donald Lee Huisman, the son of Teunis Tony and Opal (Weekley) Huisman was born on November 1, 1930 in Sheldon, Iowa. He received his GED and college education while serving in the Navy. He enlisted during the Korean War with the United States Navy in August of 1951 and was honorably discharged in August of 1955. On February 10, 1951, Don was united in marriage to Lynda Kruckenberg in Jackson, Minnesota. Don worked for Moleman Dairy from 1946 to 1951 and from 1955 to 1962.  In 1961, Don became owner and operator of Huisman Transfer till 1989 and began Huisman Aquatics in 1967 and Huisman Lock and Key from 1956 until retiring in 2010. He entered Hartley Community Health Center on April 12, 2011 in Hartley, Iowa where he remained until passing on Sunday, January 17, 2016 reaching the age of 85 years, 2 months and 16 days. 
     Don was a member of Parkview Assembly Church in Sheldon until 1997 and joined the Sheldon United Methodist Church in 1997. He loved to study the Bible and was a devoted Christian.  He enjoyed going to church and going out to eat. He was a member of the Sheldon Zoning Board for 31 years and was the Chaplain for the American Legion in Sheldon. 
     Left to cherish Dons memory is his wife of 64 years, Lynda of Sheldon; children, Terry and his wife, Sarah Huisman of Sheldon, Iowa; Jeri Postma of Sheldon, Iowa and Jan Huisman of Ocala, Florida; five grandchildren, Ben and Katie Huisman, Angela and Eric Burnette, Melissa and Chad Adams, Erica and Dennes Dorantes and Jeremiah and Jessica Postma; twelve great grandchildren; brothers, James and Kenneth Huisman; sisters, Zora Penning, Rhoda McNab and Connie Adams; also other relatives and friends. 
     Don was preceded in death by his parents; a still born child; son-in-law, Mark Postma; daughter-in-law, Mary Huisman; grandson, Aaron Scheerhoorn; brother, Marv Huisman and sister, Beatrice Carver.
