EDNA M. EINCK
Edna Mae Einck, the daughter of Paul and Mabel (Tobiason) Oldre, was born July 5, 1932 in Kenneth, Minnesota. She attended country school and completed her education in Magnolia High School graduating in 1950. On September 25, 1950, she was united in marriage to Leon H. Einck in Wilmont, Minnesota where the couple farmed, and Leon drove trucks. The couple moved to Primghar, Iowa in 1958 partnering to create Viessman and Einck Trucking. Leon and Edna went on to establish Einck Trucking which they operated until Leon’s retirement in 1995. While Leon trucked, Edna raised their seven children, and then joined Leon in team-driving. Edna sent many postcards describing her adventures seeing the United States in her “International Hotel”. The couple’s retirement years were spent in Primghar. Leon preceded Edna in death on April 17, 2010. On Thursday, January 16, 2020 Edna passed away unexpectedly at Floyd Valley Healthcare in LeMars, Iowa; reaching the age of 87 years, 6 months and 11 days.
Edna was a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Primghar. She enjoyed baking (famous for her chocolate chip cookies), sewing and embroidering, as well as canning produce from the garden.
Left to cherish Edna’s memory are her seven children, Marvin and wife Mary Einck of Primghar, Jean and husband Mike Theisen of Marcus, Roger and wife Jane Einck of Primghar, Betty Fischer of Sioux City, Steven and wife Lori Einck of Primghar, Joseph and wife Traci Einck of Primghar, and L. Paul Einck of Primghar; 23 grandchildren, 41 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren, two sisters, Norma Gangestad of Chandler, Arizona and Mary Lou Baker of Kenneth, Minnesota, sister-in-law, Joyce Oldre of Luverne, Minnesota and brother-in-law Gary and his wife Sharon Einck of Huntington Beach, California, numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Edna was preceded in death by her husband Leon, parents, grandson Jason Einck, son-in-law Mark Fischer, great-grandchildren infant twins Christine and Jeannie Fischer, and brothers LeRoy Oldre and Glenn Oldre.
