    Ernest Egdorf, the son of Fred and Lilly (Dixson) Egdorf was born June 10, 1908 on a farm near Archer, Iowa. He received his education in a rural school. He was united in marriage to Edna (Bohlen) Schloetje on September 4, 1930 at Hull, Iowa. They made their home on a farm northwest of Boyden for 45 years. They retired and moved into Boyden in 1975. He enjoyed doing his lawn and gardening while he was able.  He was baptized and confirmed at the St. Paul Lutheran Church at rural Hull, Iowa. He became a resident of Pleasant Acres Care Center of Hull, Iowa on January 18, 2005. He passed away at the care center on Sunday, January 23, 2005, at the age of 96 years, 7 months and 13 days. 
    He is survived by his 10 children and their spouses, June and Dan Van Dyk; Eugene and Lorraine Egdorf and Dennis and Henrietta Egdorf all of Boyden, Iowa; Janice and John Kuiper of Fort Dodge, Iowa; Ronald and Tylene Egdorf of Sanborn, Iowa; Carol and Wm. Ferguson of North Ridgeville, Ohio; Arlene and LeRoy Woelber of Boyden, Iowa; Kathleen and Lawrence Sohl of Hull, Iowa; Arlan and Linda Egdorf of Orange City, Iowa; and Candace and Jim Gross of Fresno, California; 26 grandchildren, 55  great-grandchildren and 13 great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Rachel Franzen of Brewster, Minnesota; a sister-in-law, Peggy Egdorf of LeMars, Iowa; a brother-in-law, Edward Miears of Omaha, Nebraska; and a host of other relatives and friends. 
    He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Edna; 2 brothers, and 2 sisters, and a grandson-in-law, David Van Engen.
