ETHEL M. HOY
Ethel Mae Hoy, the daughter of Alva and Maude (Grapes) Wilson was born May 8, 1919 in Sheldon, Iowa where she received her education. On August 27, 1944 she was united in marriage to Glenn Hoy at the United Methodist parsonage in Sheldon. In early years Ethel was a house keeper at the Arlington Hotel in Sheldon and in later years was a nurse’s aide at the Sheldon Nursing Home from 1969 until she retired in 1984. Her husband preceded her in death on August 29, 2003 in Sanborn, Iowa. Ethel remained in Sheldon and entered the Community Memorial Health Center in Hartley in May of 2010. She passed away there on Sunday, February 10, 2013 reaching the age of 93 years, 9 months and 2 days.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Sheldon and the Rebekah Lodge.
Ethel is survived by her son, Vernon Hoy of Sheldon, two granddaughters, Dawn and Connie and four great grandchildren, Kevin, Shania, Jennifer and Jimmy; also other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, two sons, Arlo and William; her parents, five sisters and two brothers.
