Eunice Elaine Johnson, the daughter of Edward and Minnie (Lange) Tesch, was born March 7, 1929 on the family farm in Caledonia Township, O’Brien County, Iowa. She received her education at St. John Lutheran School and graduated from Paullina High School. On June 14, 1953, she was united in marriage to Maynard O. Johnson at St. John Lutheran Church in Germantown, Iowa. After their marriage, the couple farmed in the Marcus and Meriden area until 1971, when they moved into Cleghorn. Eunice was employed at the Mental Health Institute in Cherokee, Iowa until her retirement. Maynard preceded her in death on February 28, 1999 in Cherokee. Eunice moved into Cherokee in August of 1999 to the Willow Brook Apartments and had been a resident of the Cherokee Villa since June 2010. Eunice passed away on Sunday, July 22, 2012 at the Cherokee Regional Medical Center in Cherokee reaching the age of 83 years, 4 months and 15 days.
She was baptized on March 21, 1929 and later confirmed on May 21, 1944 at the St. John Lutheran Church in Germantown and was currently a member of Peace Lutheran Church in Marcus. She enjoyed spending time with her family; her grandkids were her pride and joy and always brought a smile to her face. She also enjoyed coffee with her lady friends, making calendars, counted cross stitch, word search puzzles and playing cards.
