EVEA A. WESEMAN
Evea A. Weseman was born on January 7, 1914 to Bertha Louise and James Riley Baugh in a house on the plains of Nebraska at Juniata. She married Cecil Leon Weseman on December 25, 1941. Cecil left for WWII at the beginning of January leaving Evea to care for her mother.
Evea began her professional career as a teacher in a one-room schoolhouse in Holstein, NB. During her life, she was an unusual woman who taught while she was pregnant and then, again, during her children’s growing up years. One of the constants in Evea’s life was her love of music and her desire to create future musicians. She was a vocal soloist, a piano teacher, a vocal music teacher at Primghar, a church choir director, as well as both an organist and pianist at multiple churches. She was a lifetime member of the Music Club in Paullina and Eastern Star. Further, she was the founder of the Delta Kapa Gamma Chapters in both Faribault, MN and the Northwest Chapter in the Spencer, IA area. After she retired from teaching, she fulfilled a childhood dream of nursing by being a nurses’ aide at Baum Harmon Mercy Hospital for eleven years. Evea passed away on Saturday, March 31, 2018 at Unity Point Hospital in Sioux City, IA after a very short illness.
Cecil and Evea had five children, three of whom survive her: her daughter Carolyn, son Richard, and daughter Beverly. She has five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; she thought that was an amazing feat for an only child.
She was preceded in death by her mother, father, husband, and two sons.

The Lord is my Shepherd; I shall
not want. He maketh me to lie
down in green pastures; He leadeth
me beside still waters. He
restoreth my soul; He leadeth me
in the paths of righteousness for
His name’s sake.
Yea, though I walk through the
valley of the shadow of death, I will
fear no evil; for Thou art with me;
Thy rod and Thy staff they comfort
me; Thou preparest a table before
me in the presence of mine enemies;
Thou anointest my head with oil,
my cup runneth over.
Surely goodness and mercy shall
follow me all the days of my life;
and I will dwell in the house of the
Lord forever.
