EVERETT VER MEER
Everett Ver Meer, the son of Edward and Jennie (Vander Maten) Ver Meer was born July 8, 1921 on the family farm near Boyden, Iowa and attended a country school near Boyden. After his education he helped his dad on the farm. On November 12, 1942, Everett was united in marriage to Margaret Leona Kleyne in the First Reformed churches parsonage in Boyden, Iowa. After their marriage Everett served in the United States Army during World War II as a Pfc. from June 14, 1943 until his discharge on January 3, 1946. After his discharge the couple farmed near Granville, Iowa for several years. In 1952, the couple began farming northeast of Boyden, where they have lived and farmed until their retirement. The couple spent their retirement years on the family farm. He is preceded in death by his wife, Margaret on January 2, 2010 in Sheldon, Iowa. In November of 2010, Everett moved to Westminster to live with his son, Lyle and his family. Everett passed away on Tuesday, December 4, 2012 at the St. Anthony Hospital North in Westminster, Colorado, reaching the age of 91 years, 4 month and 26 days.
He was a member of the First Reformed Church in Boyden. He loved farming and being in the outdoors, welding and metal working, wildlife, fishing and vacationing with Marvin and Dorothy Bosma down south during the winter.
Everett is survived by his four children, Everly and her husband, Harold Post of Holstein, Iowa; Lyle and his wife, Lori Ver Meer of Westminster, Colorado; Diana and her husband, Brad Verburg of Sheldon and Duane and his wife, Lisa Ver Meer of Spirit Lake, Iowa; 11 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-granddaughter, a sister, Wilmina Swets of Bellflower, California; two sisters-in-law, Leona Ver Meer and Esther Ver Meer both of Boyden; also nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret; a grandson, Chad Ver Meer; his parents, two brothers, John and Frank Ver Meer; and a brother-in-law, Walter Swets; and a brother and sister-in-law, Abe and Wilma Brink.
