GERALDINE WALVOORD
Geraldine Walvoord, the daughter of Andrew Sr. and Jenny (Heitmeier) Bosch, was born August 11, 1920 near Sheldon, Iowa in Sioux County. She received her education in a country school in Sioux County. She was united in marriage to Marvin C. Walvoord on February 19, 1941 in Archer, Iowa. After their marriage they farmed near Sanborn and Primghar, Iowa in Center Township before retiring and moving into Sheldon in 1986. During the mid 1980’s, Gerry worked at the Paradox Florist in Sanborn for several years. Her husband, Marvin preceded her in death on May 1, 1991 in Sheldon. Gerry remained in her home in Sheldon before moving into the Prairie View Home in Sanborn in 2008. Gerry passed away on Friday, March 9, 2012 at Prairie View in Sanborn, reaching the age of 91 years, 6 months and 22 days.
She was a member of Bethel Reformed Church in Sheldon and a past member of the American Reformed Church in Primghar for 45 years. Gerry was very involved in bible study at both churches. As a youth, Gerry was very active in 4-H and taking many a project to the State Fair. She was a member of the Birthday Club and she enjoyed gardening and growing flowers, crocheting, but she especially enjoyed spending time with her family and grandchildren.
Left to cherish her memories are her two daughters, Anne Koontz of Sanborn, Iowa and Jane and her husband, Greer Headrick of Des Moines, Iowa; and a son, Alan and his wife, Linda Walvoord of Celina, Texas; four grandchildren, Brett (Lynn) Koontz, Damon Koontz, Kimberly (Hunter) Dunn, Clay (Megan) Walvoord; eleven great grandchildren, Taylor, Nick, Hunter, Trevor, Tori, Tyler, Tommy, Ally, Amanda, McKenna and Colton; three sisters, Mary Holtrop of Worthington, Minnesota; Clara Vellinga of Sheldon, Iowa; Margaret Smith of Marietta, Georgia; and a brother John Bosch of Dakota City, Iowa; a sister-in-law, Jeanette Bosch of Orange City, Iowa; and other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin; her parents, a sister, Tena Langenhorst; 2 brothers, Simon and Andrew Bosch Jr.; an uncle, Simon Heitmeier and an aunt, Gertrude Beerta.
