GLEN A. JORGENSEN
Glen Alfred Jorgensen, the son of Louis and Annie (Nielsen) Jorgensen was born August 26, 1928 on the family farm near Marcus, Iowa. He received his education at Marcus schools and graduated from Marcus High School in 1946. On July 15, 1950, he was united in marriage to Helen Mertens at her parent’s home near Germantown, Iowa. After their marriage Glen farmed in the Germantown area and had a heating and plumbing business. In the 1960’s the couple moved to a farm near Paullina farming until 1982 when they moved to a farm near Cleghorn, Iowa. The couple retired from farming in 1992 and moved into Paullina for their retirement years. He passed away on Easter Sunday, April 8, 2012 at the Cherokee Regional Medical Center reaching the age of 83 years, 7 months and 12 days.
He was baptized on September 25, 1928 and later confirmed on August 30, 1942 and was currently a member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Paullina. He had been a member of the Germantown Fire Department and had served his church as a trustee. He enjoyed playing cards and woodworking. His family was especially important to him.
Glen leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Helen of Paullina; children, Cindy and her husband, Barry Whitehill of Grundy Center, IA; Linda and her husband, Rich Ratka of Hutchinson, MN; Jerry and his wife, Dawn Jorgensen of Orange City, IA; Craig and his wife, Amy Jorgensen of Jackson, MN; daughter-in-law, Deb Jorgensen of Cherokee, IA; 17 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren; a brother, David and his wife, Jeannette Jorgensen of Lakefield, MN; a sister and her husband, Elna and Ron Mortensen of Ft. Myers, FL; sisters-in-law, Betty Wilcoxon of Spencer, IA; Marlene Mertens of Sioux City, IA; Evelyn Selzer of Portland, OR; Ruth Mertens of Milwaukie, OR; a brother-in-law, Kenneth Klatt of Linn Grove, IA also other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by a son, Larry on May 12, 2010 and his parents.
