GRACE L. STOFFERAN


Grace L. Stofferan, the daughter of Sylvan and Pauline (Earlick) Powers was born on March 9, 1920 in Sheldon, Iowa. She received her education from Sheldon schools. On September 24, 1939 she was united in marriage to Lawrence Stofferan on a farm near Woodstock, Minnesota. After their marriage the couple lived in the Sheldon and Hospers, Iowa area where the couple farmed. Grace also was a cook for the MOC Floyd Valley School District and for Baum Harmon Hospital in Primghar, Iowa. The couple later moved to Primghar. After Lawrence passed away in December of 1996, Grace moved to Sheldon until moving into Prairie View Home in Sanborn where she passed away on Friday, June 21, 2013 reaching the age of 93 years, 3 months and 12 days.
Grace enjoyed cooking, fishing, camping, shopping, going to garage sales and spending time with her grandchildren.
Grace is survived by her three children, Myrna Swan of Vergas, Minnesota, Lowell and his wife Nancy Stofferan of Loveland, Colorado and Betty and her husband James Van Der Sloot of Sheldon, Iowa; a daughter in law, Sharon and her husband Warren Wilson of Storm Lake, Iowa; twelve grandchildren and twenty-six great-grandchildren; seven great-great grandchildren; also other relatives and friends.
She is preceded in death by her husband; parents; two sons, Richard and Wayne; son in law Gale Swan; one sister Geraldine Anderson and three infant sisters.
