HAROLD C. SKAAR

Harold Chester Skaar, the son of Chester and Christina (Meling) Skaar was born on December 16, 1930 in Paullina, Iowa. He attended Primghar Schools and graduated from Primghar High School in 1948. He graduated from Waldorf College and later attended Luther College. Harold then started farming with his father and continued to farm until 1979 when he moved into Primghar. In 1999, he moved into the home he built on the golf course which he was very proud of and was featured in the Homes to Homes Magazine. He passed away on Friday, April 4, 2014 at the Prairie View Home in Sanborn, Iowa reaching the age of 83 years, 3 months and 18 days.

Harold was a member of the Grace Lutheran Church in Primghar. He enjoyed fishing on Pleasant Lake in Minnesota, where he went annually and traveling; he especially enjoyed his annual trips out west where he went on cattle runs in Montana in the fall and Nevada and California in the spring, where he visited family. One of Harolds favorite trips was traveling back to the Skaar homeland in Norway. Family was an important part of his life.

Left to cherish his memory a brother, Donald and his wife, Elaine Skaar of North Oaks, Minnesota; brother-in-law, Harlan Baustian of North Platte, Nebraska; six nieces and nephews, Eric Skaar, Sara Skaar, Rebecca Garey, David Baustian, Paul Baustian and Melia Baustian; four great nieces and nephews; three great-great nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, Arlet Baustian, Bernette Skaar and Alice Skaar; and one brother, Arnold Skaar in infancy.
