HELEN M. RECKER
Helen Mae Recker, the daughter of Edward and Martha (Wrede) Lange was born on September 26, 1918 in rural Paullina, Iowa. She was baptized in October of 1919 in Germantown, Iowa and was confirmed in May of 1932. She attended and graduated from Paullina High School in 1936. She was united in marriage to Alfred Recker on April 20, 1939 in Paullina, Iowa. After their marriage they lived on a farm south of Paullina. Alfred passed away in March of 1971 and Helen remained on the farm until 1977 when she moved to Paullina. Helen passed away on Wednesday, October 3, 2012 at the Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City, Iowa reaching the age of 94 years and 7 days.
She was an active member of Zion Lutheran Church in Paullina where she was a member of the Ladies Aid and Dorcas. She crocheted over 270 baby sweaters for missions. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Helen enjoyed sewing, knitting, crocheting, playing cards, flowers and reading.
Helen is survived by a daughter, Pat and her husband, Loren Steffen of Emmetsburg, Iowa; a son, Steve and his wife, Ruth Recker of Cleghorn, Iowa; four grandchildren, Robyn and her husband, Rick Cox, Kim Steffen, Kristina Sweet and fiancé, Jason Wilbur and Jennifer and her husband, Jeremy Kudera; three great-grandchildren, Grant Sweet, Jackson and Jordyn Kudera; also other relatives and friends.
Helen is preceded in death by her husband Alfred; a son, Michael; her parents; brothers and sisters, Eleanor Gebert, Harold Lange, Caroline Lange, Marlys Ault, Earl Lange and Merle Lange.
