HOWARD CRAIG
Howard Craig, the son of Howard Victor and Marie Annie (Ahrens) Craig was born on April 15, 1937 in Sutherland, Iowa. He graduated as salutatorian from Gaza High School in 1955. After graduation he enlisted in the United States Navy serving on Essex 9 Aircraft Carrier. On November 27, 1959, he was united in marriage to Joyce Rohrs. The couple moved to Broomfield, Colorado in 1965 where Howard was employed by IBM until returning to Iowa to farm in 1974. Howard retired from farming in 2000. He passed away on Monday, September 5, 2016 at Prairie View Home in Sanborn reaching the age of 79 years, 4 months and 20 days.
He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Germantown. He enjoyed going to dances with Joyce and playing the guitar. He was a member of several country western bands through the years. He and Joyce enjoyed going to music festivals with their many music friends. He also enjoyed bowling on the mens and couples leagues. He was also an avid Denver Broncos fan.
Left to cherish Howards memory is his wife, Joyce of 56 years, children and their spouses, Laura and Dennis Templer of Sutherland, Iowa; Lonnie and Dawn Craig and Christy and Jeff Griebel both of Paullina, Iowa; seven grandchildren, Tisha and Bryan Halverson, Brian and Leah Templer, Clint and Brooke Craig, Cody and Heather Craig, Cole Craig, Derek and Jennifer Griebel and Dillon and Stephanie Griebel; 16 great grandchildren, Carter, Avery, Brecken, Torrin, Teagan, Jentrie, Madison, Trevor, Isabella, Cooper, Kipton, Dane, Alex, Anna, Allison and Colin; two sisters, Dodie Livingston and Cheryl Long; sister-in-law, Ruth Schopke; brother and sister-in law, Gordon and Shirley Rohrs; also nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Howard was preceded in death by his parents, twin sister at birth, Helen Craig; siblings, Robert Craig, Marilynn (Rolf) Peterson, Richard (Bernice) Craig; brother-in-laws, George Livingston, Cecil Long, Gerald (Geraldean) Rohrs and Wesley Rohrs and mother and father-in-law, Helga and Harry Rohrs.
