HOWARD L. MORDICK

Howard Lynn Mordick, the son of Leslie Lynn and Cora (Stanfield) Mordick was born February 2, 1937 in Hampton, Iowa. Howard attended school in Alta, Iowa and graduated from the Alta High School in 1956. He was united in marriage to Rose Marie Davis on July 17, 1959 in Cherokee, Iowa. After their marriage they lived in Cherokee, Alta, Storm Lake, Sibley, Spencer and moving to Sheldon in July of 2008. Howard worked as a gas station owner, road construction worker, foreman and mechanic for the school buses in Alta, Cargill; he was last employed as an over the road truck driver from which he retired in 1997. Howard passed away on Tuesday, November 11, 2008 at the Sanford Sheldon Medical Center in Sheldon, Iowa reaching the age of 71 years, 9 months and 9 days.
Howard was of the Lutheran faith, enjoyed playing cards, especially #99, bowling, talking about sports, cars and motorcycles with his boys and grandsons. He also enjoyed watching his westerns and visiting with his family.
Howard leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 49 years, Rose of Sheldon; his mother-in-law, Charlotte Davis of Sheldon, IA; their five children, Charles Mordick of Milan, IL; Cathy and her husband, Jim Berge of Onalaska, WI; Kenneth and his wife, Ranae Mordick of Sheldon, IA; Barry and his wife, Rhonda Mordick of Sheldon, IA and Karen Mordick of Madison, WI; six grandchildren, Rebecca and her husband, Chris Joens; Nick Mordick , Ryan and Nate Mordick; Kayla and Haley Berge; one great-grandson, Hunter Lee Joens; three brothers, Arnold and his wife, Norma Ripley of Sac City, IA; Bill Ripley of Las Vegas, NV; Paul and his wife, Margaret Ripley of Alta, IA; three sisters, Lois Edgington of Sac City, IA; Lynette and her husband, Roger Jacques of Lahaira, HI; and Laurel Goettsch of Riverside, CA and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his stepmother, Velma Mordick; a brother, Ivan; a sister, Carol; a sister-in-law, Jean Brunning and his father-in-law, Jay Davis.
