IVADELL E. NIEBUHR

Ivadell Ethel Niebuhr third child of August and Anna (Haese) Mews was born November 20, 1914 at Hospers, Sioux County, Iowa. She was baptized on March 31, 1915 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. She attended country schools until the 8th grade and when her parents moved to Paullina she attended Paullina Public School. She was confirmed on June 1, 1930 at Zion Lutheran Church in Paullina. On September 11, 1932 she was united in marriage to Raymond Niebuhr in Paullina, Iowa. After their marriage the couple lived in Paullina for a year and a half until moving to a farm in the Archer area. The couple farmed for 30 years and Ivadell was a full time mother to her two daughters, Joanne and Sherry. The couple moved into Paullina in 1963. Ray preceded her in death on September 25, 1980 in Primghar. Ivadell remained at the family home in Paullina until entering the Paullina Care Center several years ago and later transferring to the Sutherland Care Center. She passed away on Thursday, January 30, 2014 at the Baum-Harmon Mercy Hospital in Primghar reaching the age of 99 years, 2 months and 10 days.
She was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Paullina, and enjoyed spending time with her family, playing cards, crocheting and flowers.
Ivadell leaves to cherish her memory her daughters, Joanne and Reg Hain of rural Archer, Iowa and Sherry Schuerkamp of Hawarden, Iowa; four grandchildren, Terry and his wife, Kim Hain of Paullina; Carla and her husband, Randy Gustafson of Laurens, Iowa; Jim and his wife, Dawn Schuerkamp of Colorado Springs, Colorado and Greg Schuerkamp of Hawarden, Iowa, eight great grandchildren, Amy, Jason, John, Bridget, Amber, Dillon, Kayla and Katy; one great-great-grandchild, Wesley; also other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, infant son, Raymond Jr.; grandson, Douglas Schuerkamp; parents, three sisters, Hertha Niebuhr, Stella Rehder, Ruth Kniese and a brother, Marvin Mews.
