JEANETTE A. KOEHLMOOS

Jeanette Ann Koehlmoos was born August 24, 1936 to John and Mary (Kelley) Ruby in Primghar, Iowa. She enjoyed growing up with her siblings and parents on a farm north of Gaza, Iowa. She attended schools and graduated from Gaza High School in 1954. She helped neighboring families with household tasks and taking care of their children. She became the wife of Lyle Koehlmoos on June 12, 1955 and moved to and still resided on the same farm west of Germantown. On February 1, 1956, she was baptized and confirmed at the St. John Lutheran Church in Germantown. Jeanette worked at Miller’s store in Germantown as a clerk and egg candler, before dedicating her life to raising a family and her role as a farm wife. In 1976-1977, Jeanette and Lyle shared their home and lives with an AFS exchange student, Joanne Northcott Isaacson from Australia.
Jeanette served her Lord through church quilting, being a Braille volunteer and serving as treasurer in Ladies Aid. She will be remembered for her smile and laughter, her living out her Christian Faith by visiting sick or shut in friends and delivering food to those who were hurting. She made sure her family was always well fed, and loved cheering her family on in whatever activity they were involved in. Jeanette and Lyle enjoyed many trips together to wonderful sites as well as dancing to polka music with family and friends. She enjoyed playing cards, gardening, and fishing for bullheads and sharing her abundance with others.
Her Heavenly Father took her hand and led her home on June 14, 2009 from Sioux Falls, South Dakota reaching the age of 72 years, 9 months and 20 days
She will be missed greatly by her loving husband, Lyle Koehlmoos of rural Granville; her children who proudly called her “Mom”, Peggy and Gary Koester and David and Renee Koehlmoos all of Paullina; Douglas and Lisa Koehlmoos of Granville; Duane Koehlmoos of Nebraska City, NE and Keith Koehlmoos of Minneapolis, MN. The grandchildren that enjoyed her hugs; Brandi and Tim Sestak of Lincoln, NE; Jennifer and Bart Wall of Sgt. Bluff; Michael Koester of Paullina; Jessica Burley of Sheldon; Jeremy Koehlmoos of Sioux City; Andrew and Eric Koehlmoos of Granville; the great-grandchildren who shared their big smiles with her, Haylee and Hannah Martin of Sheldon and her Australian family that called her “Mum”, Joanne, Graeme, Bradley and Gregory Isaacson of Seaton, South Australia. Her siblings, Catherine Menke of Sheldon; Dorothy Brown of El Cajon, CA; John and Janice Ruby of Branson, MO and Nancy and Elmer Nagel of Hartley; her in-laws Burnell and Clara Koehlmoos and Elwood and Betty Koehlmoos of Paullina; her life was blessed with many more that called her Aunt Jeanette.
Those welcoming her into heaven were an infant daughter in 1956, a grandson, Christopher Koehlmoos in 2005; her parents, John and Mary Ruby; her mother and father-in-law, Ida and Henry Koehlmoos; as well as brothers and sister-in-laws, Willard Brown; Clarence Menke; Carol Ruby; Ruth Ruby; Otto and Luella Daum and Eleonora and Henry Jalas.
