JEANETTE MAY ROGERS
Jeanette May Rogers of Lincoln, NE; formerly of Rushmore, MN; passed away on September 7, 2018. In the Summer of June 28, 1945 in Sibley, IA a beautiful bouncing baby girl was born to Robert and Vernagail (Goodell) Rogers of Rushmore MN. She was their first daughter and was named in recognition of her maternal and paternal grandmothers.
She was baptized in the First Presbyterian church of Rushmore, MN. She was later confirmed and a member of the Bigelow Methodist Church in Bigelow, MN. This was the beginning of her strong lifelong belief in her Creator, as she continued to be active in various churches throughout her life. Jeanette attended school in Bigelow, MN until 8th grade. She graduated from Worthington High School in 1963. She grew up on a farm between Bigelow and Rushmore. During her youth she was an active member of the Ransom Royal Racers 4-H Club. She worked at Cashels Nursing Home and Campbells Soup Co in Worthington, MN. Jeanette attended community college in Pipestone, MN for meat cutting, the first woman to participate in the program.
She enjoyed writing letters and poems. Although she suffered from multiple illnesses during her lifetime, it was her thoughtful nature to send beautiful cards or letters at the perfect time. Jeanette cared deeply about others and was moved to help through her words.
Jeanette was survived by six siblings including, Donald Rogers of Mt Vernon, Mo; Gerald Rogers (June) of Kearney, NE; Elaine Mess (Henry) of Rushmore, MN; Duane Rogers (Marie) of Brandon, SD; Diane Kemp (Patrick) of Freeport, Bahamas and Phyllis Thalhuber (Bruce) of Luverne, MN. Special people to Jeanette was her cousin, Nadine Tippery of Lincoln, NE and life-long friend, Linda Beerman of Iona, MN.

Sleep My Sister
© T. Hutchinson
I wish you sweet sleep, my sister dear.
Although there's so much that you've left bare
I hate that you had to endure such pain
On my mind, your saddened eyes have left a stain.

I want to know what crossed your mind
Unspoken words you've left behind
Undone things we'll never do
No sharing thoughts you never knew.

A peace has fallen upon your head
A taste of sorrow we have been fed
It really is like a hole in our lives
One swiftly dug but carved out by knives.

But I have hope that those sleeping will rise
The Bible says that God will open their eyes.
No suffering, sickness, yes not even pain,
Those who did good, eternal life they'll gain.

So... sleep on my sister, sleep tight
For now with you the sky is night.
But after night will come daybreak
Therefore I will wait hoping to see you awake.
