JODY R. HURTIG
Jody Ray Hurtig, the son of Waldo and (Ila) Bobzein Hurtig was born November 16, 1959 in LeMars, Iowa. He received his education in Calumet and later in Sutherland, Iowa. After his education he worked for his father Waldo with Hurtig Trucking in Calumet. He continued to work at various truck lines including Triple R. Trucking of Laurens, Iowa; BT Brownmiller Trucking of LeMars, Iowa, BLT Trucking and currently was working for City View Farms. On September 25, 1993, he was united in marriage to Renee Glassford at Paullina Lake in Paullina. The couple made their home for many years in Paullina and for the last several have lived in Sutherland. Jody passed away on Saturday, July 4, 2015 suddenly at the Orange City Area Health System reaching the age of 55 years, 7 months and 18 days.
He enjoyed spending time with his family, golfing and working on trucks and cars.
Jody leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Renee of Sutherland; four children, Tanya Wheeler of Spencer; Tori Hurtig of Sioux City and Tyler and Taylor Hurtig at home in Sutherland; three grandchildren, Hannah, Urijah and Tayte; his father, Waldo Hurtig of Hartley, Iowa; two sisters, Janet Rohrbaugh of Sioux City, Iowa and Julie Van Dyke of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; also other relatives and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Ila Hurtig, step-mother, Karen Hurtig; two sisters, Rhonda Van Beek and Vickie Hurtig and his grandparents.
