John A. Bilsland

John A. Bilsland, age 89, of Sheldon, Iowa, passed away on Tuesday, September 27, 2016 at Sanford Medical Center in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, from injuries sustained in an auto accident. Graveside Services will be Friday, September 30, 2016 at 3:30 P.M. at East Lawn Cemetery in Sheldon, Iowa. Rev. Richard Ludeke officiating. John was the son of William and Ann Bilsland. He grew up in the Archer, Iowa area and graduated from Archer High School. He served in the United States Army from 1946 to 1947 and was stationed in Austria. He attended college under the GI Bill and graduated from Iowa State Teachers College (University of Northern Iowa). He taught in several Iowa high schools, and finished his career at Estherville High School. He is survived by his sister, Elaine Jerome of California.
