JOHN Wm. KORBYN

John William Korbyn, the son of Peter and Emma (Millinaar) Korbyn was born June 15, 1920 in Westfield, North Dakota, where he also attended school. John was united in marriage to Myrtle Winterberg on July 17, 1945 in her parents’ home in Hull, North Dakota. After their marriage the couple lived in North Dakota for three years and moved to Iowa in 1948. John farmed and lived near Sheldon on the same place for the rest of his life. He passed away on Monday, September 22, 2008 at the Sanford Medical Center in Sheldon, reaching the age of 88 years, 3 months and 7 days.
He was a member of the First Reformed Church in Sheldon for all the years he lived in Sheldon. He had also been an elder, a deacon and a Sunday school teacher. He enjoyed tinkering with lawn mowers, small engines and bicycles.
John leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 63 years, Myrtle “Myrt” Korbyn of Sheldon; a daughter and her husband, Norma and Bob Van Gorp of Sheldon, Iowa; two sons and their wives, LeRoy and Lyann Korbyn of Sheldon and Randy and Karleen Korbyn of Mesa, Arizona; nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren, a brother, Leon and his wife, Delores Korbyn of Beulah, North Dakota; also other relatives and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Dale Wayne Korbyn; two sisters, Lena Lode and Della Nels.
