LAMMERT J. ROZEBOOM

Lammert James (Sonny) Rozeboom, the eldest son of John and Hattie (Klien) Rozeboom, was born October 11, 1916 near Hospers, Iowa. He received his education in a rural country school in Carroll Township. He was united in marriage to Edith Sorgdrager on April 27, 1938 on her parent’s farm near Alton and to this union two sons were born, Vernon and Daryl. After their marriage they farmed east of Sheldon for 15 years before moving to their current home place southeast of Sheldon. Sonny farmed in the Sheldon area most of his life and most of those hours were spent outside working on his century farm. He was the leading entrepreneur for his creation of a four row cultivator and a hay buck. He also spent a winter building a cabin cruiser boat from a Sears & Roebuck kit. Lammert passed away on Wednesday, July 29, 2009 at the Sanford Sheldon Medical Center in Sheldon, reaching the age of 92 years, 9 months and 18 days.
He was a life-long member of Bethel Reformed Church in Sheldon. He enjoyed fishing, spending his winters in Phoenix, camping with the Good Samaritan Club, spending time with his family and grandchildren; but most of all working in his fields.
Left to cherish his memories are his wife, Edith; two sons and their spouses, Vernon and Beverly Rozeboom and Daryl and Barb Rozeboom all of Sheldon, Iowa; nine grandchildren, thirty-four great-grandchildren, eight great-great grandchildren, and a sister-in-law, Evelyn Rozeboom of Texas; and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, Albert (Fritz) Rozeboom.

Lammert will be greatly missed & remembered mostly for his loving gracious kind hearted ways.
