LARRY L. BARE
Larry Lee Bare, the son of Delmar and Arlene (Hammon) Bare, was born March 26, 1937 in Barnard, Missouri. He received his education and graduated from Barnard High School. He went on to attend William Jewel College in Missouri. On November 10, 1970, he was united in marriage to Janice (Smith) Hughes in St. Joseph, Missouri. After their marriage the couple lived in St. Joseph, before coming to Sioux City in 1974, where he was a hog buyer. The couple moved to Primghar in 1978, and he was employed by John Morrell as a hog buyer. He retired from John Morrell in 1997. The past several summers, he had been working for O’Brien County. Larry passed away on Tuesday, July 17, 2007, at the Baum-Harmon Mercy Hospital in Primghar after being stricken at the Primghar Golf and Country Club while golfing, which he loved, reaching the age of 70 years, 3 months and 20 days.
He enjoyed golfing, fishing; loved life and had been working and helping others. Larry’s dream of having a hole-in-one came true on July 27, 2003, when he not only had one, but two holes-in-one on the same day and on the same hole.
Larry leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Janice of Primghar; two sons, Mike Bare of Graham, Missouri; Troy Bare of Carlsbad, California; three daughters, Tammy and her husband, Mike Ridler of Graham, Missouri; Kristie and her husband, Tommy Richards of Marshall, Missouri and Shelley Brichta of Spencer, Iowa; a former daughter-in-law, Jonelle Bare of Mound City, Missouri; twelve grandchildren and one great-grandchild; a sister, Linda Bond of Olathe, Kansas; also other relatives and many friends.
He was preceded in death by a son, Mitchell and his parents.
Larry was loved by many and will be greatly missed.
