LAURENCE H. WISSINK
Laurence Harvey Wissink, the son of Manus and Gertjes (Van Maanen) Wissink, was born March 13, 1915 in Sioux Center, Iowa. He received his education in Sioux Center. He was united in marriage to Phyllis Rowenhorst on August 21, 1943 in Everly, Iowa. From 1943 to 1946, he served in the United States Army for 35 months during World War II in Italy and in the South Pacific. After his discharge from the service they lived in Rock Rapids and in Sheldon where Laurence was self employed in the construction business. He was one of the contractors of the Sheldon First Reformed Church. In 2002, he moved to Fieldcrest Manor in Sheldon and in 2005, he moved to the Prairie View Nursing Home in Sanborn, Iowa. Laurence passed away on Wednesday, September 6, 2006, at the Northwest Iowa Health Center in Sheldon, reaching the age of 91 years, 5 months and 24 days.
He was a member of First Reformed Church in Sheldon.
Those left to cherish his memory, is his wife, Phyllis of Sanborn, Iowa; three daughters, Mary and her husband, David Stegemann of Lakefield, Minnesota; Helen and her husband, Robert Schoon of Spirit Lake, Iowa; Susan and her husband, Bill Reimers of Boyden, Iowa; and two sons, Lee Wissink of Des Moines, Iowa; Jay and his wife, Donna Wissink of Dallas, Texas; he is also survived by his, 13 grandchildren, and 5 great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, 11 brothers, 1 sister and a grandson.
