LINDA K. DE GROOT

Linda Kay De Groot, the daughter of Klaas and Leona (Van Briesen) Klingenberg was born October 26, 1945 in Grant Township of Lyon County, Iowa. She received her education in George, Iowa and graduated from George High School. On March 20, 1964, she was united in marriage to Kendall De Groot in George, Iowa. After their marriage the couple lived in George for a short time, before moving to Sheldon. While in Sheldon, Linda along with Kendall owned and operated The Print Shop for 20 years. She had worked as a secretary for the Superintendent of Sheldon Schools, the Federal Land Bank and the O’Brien County Probation Board. For the last 21 years, she has worked at the Village Northwest Unlimited in Sheldon. She passed away at her home on Sunday, October 15, 2006, reaching the age of 60 years, 11 months and 19 days.
She was a member of the First Reformed Church in Sheldon and was active in the Women’s Ministries of the church and had served as RCYF Youth Leader, Sunday school teacher and a small group Bible Leader. She was a member of the Christian Motorcyclist Association and enjoyed motorcycling, traveling and camping. Village Northwest was an important part of Linda’s life and her devotion to the Village will be missed. She loved her grandchildren and spending time with her family. She was known to make the best root beer float.
Left to cherish her memory is her husband, Kendall of Sheldon; a daughter, Kristin and her husband, Mark Grave of Moose Lake, Minnesota; a son, Kelly De Groot of Sanborn, Iowa; four grandchildren, Kathryn and Nathan Grave; Alyssa and Samantha De Groot; she is also survived by her father, Klaas Klingenberg of George, Iowa; two sisters, Verla and her husband, Clifford Groen of Little Rock, Iowa; LaVonne Christians of Renner, South Dakota; and a brother, Klaas Jr. and his wife, Pam Klingenberg of George, Iowa; also other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her mother, an infant sister, Leoris and a brother-in-law, Elmer Christians.
