LORRAINE A. WOODMAN
Lorraine Audrey (Hansen) Woodman, was born October 3, 1920 to Joseph W. and Mabel (Hanson) Hansen at Bethesda Hospital in Crookston, Minnesota. She attended Eugene Field Elementary School a block from her home and later graduated from Crookston High School in 1938. On June 5, 1946, she was united in marriage to Norman Woodman at her parents home in Crookston. After their marriage the couple settled on the Woodman farm near Archer, Iowa. The couple farmed for a number of years later moving into Archer. They moved to Sheldon in 1966, to live their remaining years on 9th Street. To this union four children were born, Jeffrey; Joel; Kathleen and Brian. Lorraine was employed for many years by Northwestern Bell Telephone Company until her retirement in 1982. In September of 1987, while visiting family in Grand Rapids, Minnesota, Lorraine suffered a massive cerebral aneurysm. She had been a resident of the Northwest Iowa Health Center ~ Senior Care for many years, under the care of a very loving staff. She passed away there on Saturday, May 14, 2005, reaching the age of 84 years, 7 months and 11 days.
She was an active member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Sheldon. They enjoyed camping in their trailer near Pelican Lake, Ashby, Minnesota. They loved to fish and visit with many other Iowans, but family always came first.
Lorraine leaves to cherish her memory her children, Jeffrey Woodman of Austin, Texas; Joel Woodman of Marshalltown, Iowa; Kathy and her husband, Marty DeVos of Orange City, Iowa; Brian Woodman of Navarre, Florida; 9 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, a sister and her husband, Geri and Follard Thurn of Moorhead, Minnesota also nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband Norman on July 2, 2000; her parents and a baby brother, Gerald.
