MARIAN W. BROWER

Marian Wilma Brower, the daughter of John A. and Florence E. (Van Wyk) Huibregtse, was born December 16, 1927 in Sheldon, Iowa. She grew-up in the Matlock, Iowa area and graduated from Sheldon High School in 1945 and received her Elementary Certificate from Central College in Pella, Iowa in 1947. On June 3, 1948, she was united in marriage to Stanley D. Brower in Sheldon, Iowa and the young couple made their home in Sheldon. Marian worked with her husband in the Brower Bakery for 36 years before retiring in 1984. Marian passed away on Saturday, August 30, 2008 at the Sanford Medical Center in Sheldon, reaching the age of 80 years, 8 months and 14 days.
Marian was a member of the Bethel Reformed Church in Sheldon and various women’s organizations within the church, she was on the Sheldon Library Board and was the secretary in the 1960’s. She was also a member of P.E.O. for over 40 years, she also was a volunteer at the Oak Park Care Center and Village Northwest and most of all she enjoyed her family.
Marian leaves to cherish her memory her husband of 60 years, Stanley of Sheldon; and their three children, Douglas Brower and his wife, Marsha Duea of Des Moines, Iowa; Nancy and her husband, John Suhreptz of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; Amy Burton and her fiancée, Timothy Leeper of Waukee, Iowa; four grandchildren, Neal Brower, Nathan Brower, Bethany Suhreptz, Paul Suhreptz; one great-grandson, Hayden Brower; a sister, Carol Flikkema of Pella, Iowa; and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Robert and Norman Huibregtse; and a brother-in-law, Bernard Flikkema.
