MARVIN R. PEARSON

Marvin Russell Pearson, the son of Ernest and Martina (Peterson) Pearson, was born July 30, 1925 in Alta, Iowa. He received his education in the Larrabee School System and furthered his education at Lundell Manufacturing in Cherokee as a draftsman. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Cherokee. In 1943, Marvin entered the military, serving in the Army during World War II in the European Theatre. While stationed in Europe he received a purple heart, Oak Leaf Cluster and a Bronze Service Star. Following his discharge in 1946, he returned to Iowa. On July 9, 1965, he was united in marriage to Sally Robinson in Yankton, South Dakota. They farmed north of Sutherland, Iowa until 1977 and then they moved to Primghar and farmed south of Primghar. Sally preceded Marv in death on May 31, 2005. Marv passed away on Saturday, March 19, 2016 at Prairie View Home in Sanborn, Iowa reaching the age of 90 years, 7 months and 19 days.
Marvin was a member of the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Royal. He enjoyed traveling and two ball golf outings with Sally. He also enjoyed have family reunions and getting together with friends. Marv enjoyed farming and feeding cattle. He was Commander for two years in the VFW and a member of the American Legion for 62 years.
Left to cherish his memories is his son, Tom Pearson and sister-in-laws, Marlene Pearson and Emma Pearson, also many nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Sally; five brothers, Art, Roy, Les, Edgar and Don and three sisters, Alice, Evelyn and Erma.
