SURPRISE, AZ
Mary Jean Stoner, age 87, of Surprise, AZ and formerly of Peterson, Iowa, was who passed away on Thursday, November 3, 2016. She was born to Edward and Alice Lage in Cherokee, Iowa. Upon graduation from high school, she attended Iowa State Teachers College in Cedar Falls, Iowa. Mary Jean married Howard Stoner in 1950. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband and parents. She is survived by her daughters, Diane Kitt and Elaine Sinclair, and their families.
Mary Jean moved to Arizona 5 years ago. Previously she had been a longtime resident of Grand Junction and Fruita. She enjoyed gardening, travel, fishing, card clubs, art and cake decorating. She owned and operated The Candy Lady in Grand Junction during the 1980s.
A celebration of life will be held 1:30-3:00 p.m. Sunday, December 4, 2016 at Eldridge Family Funeral Home in Paullina.
Burial will take place at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made in Mary Jean's name to Hospice of the Valley in Phoenix.
