MILDRED D. LARSON
Mildred D. Larson, the daughter of Ralph and Martha (Groen) Geerdes was born on a farm near Everly, Iowa, on November 25, 1928. She graduated from Primghar High School in 1947 and attended Luther College in Decorah, where she was a soloist in the Nordic Choir. Mildred gave private vocal and piano lessons. She also sang at many weddings and funerals and was active in women’s groups at Grace Lutheran Church in Primghar. Her hobbies included crafts, gardening and tending to her flowers. She was united in marriage to Donald E. Larson at the Congregational Church in Primghar in 1948. The couple farmed south of Primghar until 2009 when they moved to Primghar. She passed away on Wednesday, January 18, 2012 reaching the age of 83 years, 1 month and 23 days.
Mildred is survived by her husband, Don of Primghar; three children, Mark (special friend, Toni) Larson of Raleigh, North Carolina; David (Marjorie) Larson of Primghar and Debra (Gary) Holst of Sioux City; five grandchildren, Michael Larson and Richard Larson of Raleigh, North Carolina; Jessica (Tom) Mathisen of Urbandale, Iowa; Taylor Larson of Durant, Iowa and Jon (Joy) Larson of Ankeny, Iowa, one great-granddaughter, Madelyn Mathisen of Urbandale, Iowa; also other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents and four brothers, John, George (Jud), Marvin and Ronald.
