NINA O. BECKMANN
Nina Orene Beckmann, the daughter of Grover and Mary (Schneider) Petitt was born on March 29, 1919 by rural Sanborn, Iowa. She attended school in the rural O’Brien and Osceola country schools. In her early teens she moved to Sheldon with her parents where she was a housekeeper for several families in the area. On January 16, 1939, she was united in marriage to Frank Beckmann in Granville. To this union, one daughter, Arlene was born. After the couple married they settled in the Granville area until 1942, when they moved to Archer, Iowa. In 1943, they moved to a farm near Primghar, until moving into town in 1965. Nina resided in this home until March 8, 2011 when she moved to the Primghar Rehabilitation Care Center. She passed away at the care center on Saturday, June 18, 2011 reaching the age of 92 years, 2 months, and 19 days.
She was a very active member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Primghar. Nina enjoyed embroidering, making quilts along with various crafts she made for relatives and friends. She also enjoyed gardening and working outdoors with her flowers.
Nina is survived by three grandchildren, Brian and his wife, Sheri Olson of Lincoln, Nebraska; Lavonne and her husband, Jason Trimmer of Omaha, Nebraska; and Catherine and her husband, Clarence (Bud) Pridemore of Bellevue, Nebraska; six great grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren; two brothers, G.C. (Bud) Petitt and his wife, Darlene of Sheldon, Iowa and Paul and his wife, Mitzi Petitt of Gillette, Wyoming; three sisters, Helen Erkes of Sheldon, Iowa; Betty Swanson of Delano, California; and Eleanor McDuffy of Des Moines, Iowa; also a host of other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank; her daughter, Arlene; son-in-law, Ed Brinker; her parents, two brothers, Edward and William; and three sisters, Hilda, Mary and infant sister, Dolly Mae.
