OPAL I. LARSEN

Opal Iola Larsen, the daughter of Phillip and Elizabeth (Drager) Tanner was born January 2, 1919 in Nebraska. She moved with her family to the Archer, Iowa area, where she received her education. On June 14, 1947, she was united in marriage to Charles Larsen in Spencer, Iowa. After their marriage, they made their home in Primghar. Opal worked in various cafés in Primghar as a cook and raised her family. Charlie passed away on August 14, 1994 in Primghar. Opal remained in the family home until entering the Primghar Care Center in December of 2001. She passed away at the care center on Saturday, October 11, 2008, reaching the age of 89 years, 9 months and 9 days.
She was associated with the Grace Lutheran Church in Primghar and enjoyed baking and cooking, especially making a great apple pie and cinnamon rolls. Opal enjoyed taking care of house plants and doing crafts. Holidays were a special time for her being able to spend them with her family.
Opal is survived by her children, Peggy and her husband, Phillip Baker of Angleton, Texas; Dennis Larsen of Sioux City; Gloria Morris of Sheldon; Phyllis and her husband, Brad Fear of Everly and Phil and his wife, Cheryl Larsen of Sheldon; also 21 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren, also one brother, Lloyd Tanner of Joplin, Missouri; and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, a daughter, Barbara; an infant son, Jerry; her parents and one brother.
