PETER A. HIBMA

Peter A. Hibma, the son of Andrew and Maggie (Husinga) Hibma was born July 25, 1920 in Ocheyedan, Iowa. He received his education in Hull, Iowa. Peter served in the United States Army during World War II. On January 15, 1947, he was united in marriage to Sadie De Boer at the First Christian Reformed Church in Hull, Iowa. After their marriage the couple lived in Rock Valley, Iowa, before moving to Boyden, where they farmed for 50 years. They continued to live on the farm until Peter fully retired in 2001. They then moved to Elk Horn, Nebraska to live with their daughter, Janell Kimble. In 2005, they moved into the Autumn Park Apartments in Sheldon and in January of 2006, they became residents of the Pleasant Acres Care Center in Hull, Iowa. Peter passed away on Saturday, November 18, 2006 at the Care Center in Hull, Iowa, reaching the age of 86 years, 3 months and 25 days.
He was a member of the First Christian Reformed Church in Hull, the Boyden American Legion, Wm. Monster Post #272. He enjoyed farming, bowling, playing pool and spending the winter in Texas with his wife.
Peter leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of 59 years, Sadie of Hull, Iowa; and two children, Tony Hibma and his wife, Kathy of Sioux City, Iowa; and Janell Kimble of Elk Horn, Nebraska; three grandchildren, Paul and his wife, Andrea Hibma; Bryan and Mark Hibma; two brothers, Gerrit Hibma of Sheldon, Iowa; Andrew Hibma and his wife, Lois of Byron Center, Michigan; a sister, Caroline Krohn of Warroad, Minnesota; and a sister-in-law, Dena Hibma of Edgerton, Minnesota; and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Ted and a sister, Hilda.
